About State Street Farmer's Market

State Street Farmer's Market was established in April 1999 as a means of providing local farmers with a location from which they could sell their goods to the public.

State Street Farmer's Market opened in Bristol's old transit center, located at 810 State Street, where the Country Music Mural is located. At the time, there was no permanent building located on the grounds. Vendors and customers had no restroom facilities and no protection from the elements.

In 2000, with the help of funding donated by local businesses, and state and federal grants, a permanent facility was built on the site. The new building features on-site restroom facilities; huge 12-foot wrap around porches to protect farmers, vendors and their wares from the weather; and a full concessions area offering both hot and cold beverages and tasty snacks.

Today, State Street Farmer's Market is a highly anticipated fixture in the Bristol community. Local residents look forward to the delicious produce, homemade foods, and unique arts and crafts they can find only at State Street Farmer's Market — not to mention the friendly faces they've come to know and love.

State Street Farmer's Market is subsidized by four local governmental agencies — two cities and two counties in two different states.

City of Bristol, Tennessee
City of Bristol, Virginia
Sullivan County, Tennessee
Washington County, Virginia

We extend our thanks to these agencies — and to our loyal customers — for their continued support.
